What you need to know about menopause and HRT

The menopause is a natural part of the ageing process, which occurs as a woman's oestrogen levels decline. It usually  usually takes place between the age of 45 and 55, with 51 being the average age for a woman in the USA.
Typical symptoms can include hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings and a reduced libido. Under the guidance of your GP, a number of different treatments are available to address the changes experienced during the menopause, the most common of which is Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT).
